Students are expected to wear correct Dancentre uniform to:

  • Prepare mentally for class
  • Allow 100% range of motion
  • Encourage pride of appearance
  • Promote team spirit
  • Allow the teacher to freely view each student's technique and body alignment.

If Jazz and Funk, Hip-Hop or Tap follow a ballet class it is acceptable for students to remain in the same leotard for all classes.

Girls in preschoolers, combination and up to level 4 classical ballet

  • Pale pink sleeveless leotard

Girls in levels 5 - 7 classical ballet

Girls in hip-hop and contemporary

Boys in jazz and funk, hip-hop and contemporary

  • White fitted singlet or T-shirt

  • Black jazz shoes (jazz and funk)
  • Socks (contemporary)
  • White runners (hip-hop)

Girls in tap

  • # Dancentre aqua singlet or leotard
  • Tan shiny dance tights (for exam)
  • Black hot pants (for exam), or 3/4 leggings (no long flares)
  • Black low-heeled tap shoes

Boys in tap

  • White fitted singlet or T-shirt
  • Black straight-legged 3/4 or ankle length pants
  • Black tap shoes

Winter

Only crossovers and tight-fitting black layers are permitted. No big shirts, jumpers or jackets! No prints.

# Dancentre hoodies are available for wearing to and from classes, competitions and performances.

Hair

  • Ballet - neat bun.
  • Jazz and funk, tap, contemporary, hip-hop - neat ponytail.
  • Fringes and wisps should be pinned or gelled back. Head-bands are recommended for short hair.
  • Good grooming is part of dance training.
