PROGRAMME - Dance Styles
CLASSICAL BALLET
Celebrated for its beauty, Classical Ballet is the traditional form of dance that evolved from the court dances of King Louis XIV in the 1600’s. Over time it has been refined to the skilled and artistic vision we see today.
At dancentre we recommend students learn Classical Ballet first. A sound ballet technique provides an easy transition into other forms of dance. Ballet trains the body carefully, developing strength, control, coordination and line.
dancentre students have the opportunity of learning principles of the Australian Ballet School System of Training (1999) as well as the Southern Federation of Dance (SFD) Classical Ballet Syllabus, for which there are annual assessments.

JAZZ
Jazz just keeps evolving. It's a fusion of vaudeville, cabaret, stage dance, film, street dance, video clips and ballet. Influences include Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, Bob Fosse, Michael Jackson and Paula Abdul. From Broadway to Hip Hop, just about anything can be incorporated into Jazz.
dancentre offers annual assessments in SFD Jazz syllabus levels.
FUNK & HIP-HOP
Hot moves to cool music. Funk & Hip-Hop are the newest trends in popular dance. Video clips have turned Funk into a phenomenon. It's rhythmic, high-energy and groovalicious.
CONTEMPORARY
